Dosing of sulphidoleukotrienes

The role of diagnostics in clarifying drug allergic reactions

Adverse drug reactions constitute a heterogeneous and complex issue. The diagnostic path under adverse drug reaction, which obviously starts from the detailed collection of clinical history, is made, in practice, of a series of focused tests to verify whether a particular drug was responsible for the symptoms. Skin tests “in vivo”, provocation tests and laboratory tests “in vitro”are among the diagnostic techniques which are currently available. The methods for the laboratory tests “in vitro” have been recently defined. Such methods alone or, even better, in association, can provide useful and reliable information to identify the etiology of the adverse reaction. The dosing of sulphidoleukotrienes, the study of basophils activation and the test of lymphocytal transformation are among such methods.
